Sunday saw the squirrels take on Belvedere on a hot summer’s day.
Even though the skip ordered Jakey to do the toss for him, unfortunately the skip arrived just in time to toss up and lost his 4th toss in 4 this season.
The squirrels bowled first on an interesting looking deck. It was apparent from ball one that it was going to be a deck that was tough for the bowlers to get their rhythm on and also hard for the batsman to get in properly due to the ball seaming around.
Ben (2-21) and Himanshu (1-21) found their rhythm however and got the squirrels off to a great start. Ben taking a classic openers dismissal, bowling a classic outswinger, inducing a drive from the batsman and with an ever grateful Howesy doing the formalities behind the sticks.
It was then the turns of Harry S (1-16) and Andy Hall (2-15) to show what they were made of and they both used the deck to their advantage, bowling superbly to their field and backed up well in the field although Andy himself and Neil need to practice their double footed slide tackles for their next game.
Rob Allen (1-14) and Jake (1-2) also bowled well and Belvedere made what looked like a below par 101.
Lloyd (4) went early during the chase which brought Tom (29) and Jake (50*) together. After seeing off the new ball, both lads looked to find the gaps and pushed hard for singles as they cruised towards their fifty plus partnership.
Tom showing signs of the class act he promises to be and growing in confidence with every ball he faced.
The squirrels reached their target with 12 overs to spare in a comfortable victory. After two losses at the start of the season, LPCC have now won their last two and long may it continue.
