Sunday saw the squirrels take on New Beckenham at the HSBC ground.
After again winning the toss, Hobbsy decided to bowl first with the outfield looking slow due to wetness.
Sen (2-37) and Woodsy (2-30) both bowled superb opening spells and hit the gloves hard with the new ball.
After a late call up, Himanshu (2-33) bowled with great control and patience and was supported well in the field by Sen who took a brilliant catch (and it was Woodsy’s catch)
Kev (0-35) and Nitish (0-25) both bowled well in the middle overs too as the New Beckenham batsman went through the gears.
Harry S (1-27) and Kyle (1-15) both bowled with control in the latter overs also as a strong New Beckenham batting line up scored 208.
Lloyd (26) and Pat (50) put on over 70 after a cautious start against a decent opening attack. Lloydy at times running like he was a man in his 20’s. The longer Pat’s innings went on, the more fluent he looked and it was a shame he got out when he did although I’m not quite sure getting clapped twice for his 50 was necessary.
Woodsy (6), fully loaded after his McDonald’s came and went quickly as did Charles (2) who was run out. Kyle (30) batted with ease and hit some pleasant shots towards the end with the skip also (25*) adding a few big shots at the end.
The squirrels finished on 165 and lost by 43 runs against probably the best team we have played all year.
Player of the match - Sen
Fine of the day - Woodsy
