Sunday saw the squirrels travel to Sherwood in Rochester. After chatting to the opposition’s skipper who wanted to bowl first and with Hobbsy wanting to bat first, there was no toss which was a relief for the skipper.
With three players running late, Lloyd (42) and Alfie (7) opened up on a feather bed of a deck. Lloyd was the aggressor in the partnership and punished anything wide early on. Lloyd looked superb for his 42 and has found some great form at the end of the season.
After Alfie got cleaned up, Wiseo strolled to the crease looking on a mission to score big runs and quickly. After giving fielding practice initially, picking out fielder after fielder, he started finding the gaps and looked odds on for a ton before being caught at mid wicket for a fluent 78.
Nitish (27), Woodsy (32), Charles (21) and Hobbsy (37*) all scored quickly towards the end as Lamorbey made a massive 272-6 from their 40 overs. In the midst of wickets tumbling, Howesy took a sublime stumping of the bowling of Harry.
Nitish (3-12) and Kev (2-17) then got the lads off to a flier before Harry S (4-18) and Alfie (1-8) finished off the tail with Sherwood making 85 all out in their response.
Special mention to Min also who made his squirrels debut. He bowled well and deserved a wicket but also took two catches which is something we are not used to in the outfield.
Thanks again also to Andy for umpiring. It’s a thankless task umpiring, especially doing both ends at times and it is most appreciated from the lads.
