Sunday saw the squirrels take on Southfleet. After Lloyd managed the traffic outside the ground in interesting fashion, once inside the ground, the skip won the toss and chose to bat.
Lloyd (8) and Tom (12) opened for the squirrels with a solid start. Jake (97*) once again shone with the bat and even though he pulled his hamstring early in his innings, showed Southfleet what a superb batsman he is and although clearly in pain and falling over after most of his attacking shots, showed determination at the crease and hit some big sixes into the road.
He had support from the skip (18) and Neil (25) as well Tom doing a heroic job running between the wickets for jake.
The returning Woodsy then fell cheaply and Charles (10*) looked good at the end as Lamorbey posted 187-5 from their 40 overs.
The squirrels then got off to a flying start with Himanshu (4-39) ripping through the top order and was well supported with Jake and Woodsy taking good catches.
Unfortunately, with several players nursing injuries, we didn’t pick up anymore wickets as the oppo reached their target with overs to spare.
If we held onto our further chances we created, it may of been a different outcome. Was nice to see Sen return to the team and on another day, he could of easily picked up a few wickets.
Player of the match - Himanshu
Fine of the day - Lloyd
